Community
The Chill is dedicated to uplifting and supporting our Alaska community. Since our inception in 2018, we have proudly raised nearly $30,000 through various events and direct donations. Our mission focuses on a broad range of needs including supporting our veterans and active-duty military personnel, raising awareness for suicide prevention, assisting those experiencing domestic violence and sexual assault, providing disaster relief, helping the unhoused, supporting animal welfare and addressing other vital community needs.

The Chill Division Guide
​
​The goal of The Chill is to create fun, competitive, and balanced hockey for everyone. Players will often find they can physically participate in more than one division, but the best experience comes from playing at the level where they can contribute, compete, and enjoy close games. Division placement decisions are made with competitive balance and player experience in mind so that every player, team, and division can thrive. ​​
Explorer Program. New to Hockey
Alaska Gold & Seals
The Explorer Program is designed for adults who are new to hockey or returning after a long absence from the game. The focus is on learning, skill development, confidence-building, and having fun in a welcoming environment. No prior league experience is required.

Cheechako Division. Novice Alaska Warriors, Crowberries, Mosquitoes, Nuggets,Outlaws,Squids
The Cheechako Division is ideal for recreational and newer players who understand the basics of the game and are continuing to develop skating, puck handling, positioning, and hockey awareness. Games are competitive but played at a pace that allows players to learn and grow. 2 Goal Limit
Sourdough Division. Intermediate
Letterkenny Anglers, Moose, Shamrocks, Salmon Kings, Wood Bison
The Sourdough Division is for players with a solid foundation of hockey skills who can skate comfortably, understand positioning, and contribute consistently in game situations. Players can continue to refine their skills while enjoying a competitive but approachable level of play. 3 Goal Limit
Alpine Division. Intermediate+
Flamingos, Glacier Wings, Muldooners/Trophy Hunters, Spenard Roadrunners, Team Nordic
The Alpine Division is designed for experienced recreational players with strong skating ability, solid puck skills, and a good understanding of team play. Games are faster and more structured, rewarding good decision-making and consistent execution. 3 Goal Limit

​The Summit Division represents the highest level of competition in The Chill. Players typically possess advanced skating ability, strong hockey IQ, and significant playing experience. Games are played at a high tempo with skilled, competitive athletes who enjoy challenging hockey in a respectful environment. No goal limit.

While operating as an independent Alaska-based small business, The Chill is pleased to collaborate with and acquire our ice time and officials through Premier Hockey Leagues who, as one of North America's largest organizers and providers of adult amateur hockey, offers volume buying and great experience in running leagues on a large scale. The PHL operates Anchorage's RAHL and leagues in Chicago. IL. Plymouth MI, Edina, MN, Long Island NY, Orange County CA, Philadelphia, PA and Santa Fe NM. We also collaborate with the PHL on the Midnight Sun Summer hockey league.

Hockey Officials of Alaska, an Alaska Small business has a stated mission to inquire, inspire and serve and provides all on and off-ice officials to The Chill through our agreement with Premier Hockey Leagues. The Chill and HOA also collaborate to help promote a positive community and grow the game of hockey in Southcentral Alaska.

Starting with the 2026-27 season, The Chill is proud to name Hyperco Sports as our official supplier of all game jerseys. Hyperco based in Dallas, TX produces high value and quality cut and sew fully embroidered pro jerseys as well as the latest in fully sublimated sweaters.
The Chill is the only adult hockey league in Alaska that features a complete real time stats and standings package including live game feeds so you, your friends and family can keep up with the action. The Chill pioneered the use of GameSheet in Alaska and it is now used by leading youth leagues including the AHA.
Jersey design, team logos and all marketing materials are provided by Fun City Designworks of Eagle River, AK an affiliated design studio operated by Moose Hockey Alaska LLC. Both human design and AI tools such as ChatGPT are used in the production of materials.
